Every evening, a confession echoes through Via Mascarella. It isn't the voice of Benedetta Fioravanti but that of a young man, whose recording was found online. His words reveal a quiet acceptance from someone who feels powerless to change their circumstances yet continues to love deeply. This sentiment inspires both the title and the essence of the work.
The solo exhibition centers on the video "i still Love U, anyway" and explores a key theme in the artist's research: the conflict between intimacy and failure, as well as the tension between physical presence and emotional distance. It delves into the friction that exists between social groups, individual responsibilities, and physical limits. The video is projected every evening from 8 PM to midnight, creating a space of suspension and confrontation during this time.
The video, partially filmed at the Piramide delle Cascine in Florence, follows a group of boys as they practice parkour, continually attempting to climb a structure. The soundtrack, composed by Tommaso Pandolfi (Furtherset), features layered sounds accompanied by a child's voice that runs through the sequence.
The video at Megadue has been redesigned in a vertical format and features two specific interventions. First, on the front window, are three stickers by Pierpaolo Petruzzelli. These stickers evoke the aesthetics of cinematic logos and music album covers, showcasing a graffiti-covered castle, a stylized heart, and a closed fist. These images not only introduce the artwork but also deepen its interpretive layers. Additionally, a text by Valentina Goretti accompanies the project, providing a poetic and emotional perspective that resonates with the work itself.
In this solo exhibition, Fioravanti symbolically marks the end of a significant phase in her artistic research. Over the past few years, her work has focused on found footage, the contrast of diverse materials, and the idea of the archive as a disordered and non-hierarchical entity. Each piece is born from a keen observation of everyday life and is created through assemblages that prioritize urgency over strict logic. "i still Love U, anyway" fits into this trajectory as a moment for pause, accumulation, and renewal.
Benedetta Fioravanti (Ascoli Piceno, 1995) works primarily with moving images and site-specific projects. In 2025, she took part in Windows at Authorized Dealer Gallery with Now Instant (Los Angeles) and Machine Wreckers: 20 acts in one day at Spazio Punch (Venice). In 2024, she created the opening title for the 17th edition of Lo Schermo dell’Arte Festival in Florence and participated in the 15th edition of the Havana Biennial, Cuba. The same year, she was selected for the Wonderful! Art Research Program 2024 1st Edition residency in Florence, and participates in the group exhibitions Anche in un castello si può cadere (Florence), La prima volta at Casa Testori (Milan), and the screening ROMA CAPODARTE at MACRO – Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome. In 2023, she is selected for the Nuovo Grand Tour program promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture and takes part in group shows at Fabbrica del Vapore (Milan), Fondazione Stelline (Milan), and Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Guarene). In 2022, she participates in the Estuario Project in Prato. In 2020 and 2019, she joins the residencies Progettoborca – ex Villaggio Eni Corte di Cadore (Borca di Cadore, Belluno) and Fabrica, Benetton’s Research Centre for Modern Communication (Treviso).

Una confessione attraversa ogni sera via Mascarella. Non è la voce di Benedetta Fioravanti, ma quella di un ragazzo, registrata in un video trovato online. La sua è la resa silenziosa di chi non riesce a smuovere la situazione ma continua ad amare, comunque. Da lì, il titolo e l'opera.
La mostra personale, costruita attorno al video "I still love U, anyway", mette a fuoco un nucleo tematico centrale nella ricerca dell’artista: lo scontro come tensione tra intimità e fallimento, tra presenza fisica e distanza emotiva. È un’opera sull’attrito, tra gruppi sociali, responsabilità individuali e limiti fisici. La proiezione avviene ogni sera, dalle 20 alle 24, in una fascia oraria che diventa spazio di sospensione e confronto.
Girato in parte alla Piramide delle Cascine a Firenze, il video segue un gruppo di ragazzi che praticano parkour, impegnati in un tentativo ostinato di scalare una struttura. L’audio è firmato da Tommaso Pandolfi (Furtherset): suoni stratificati e una voce infantile che attraversa la sequenza senza offrire spiegazioni.
Riconfigurato per Megadue in formato verticale, il lavoro è affiancato da due interventi. Sulla vetrata d’ingresso, tre sticker realizzati da Pierpaolo Petruzzelli evocano loghi cinematografici e adesivi da copertina musicale: un castello segnato di graffiti, un cuore stilizzato, un pugno chiuso. Segni che introducono l’opera e ne amplificano i livelli di lettura. Un testo di Valentina Goretti accompagna il progetto: una presenza laterale, poetica, emotivamente sintonizzata con il lavoro.
Con questa personale Fioravanti chiude simbolicamente una fase della propria ricerca, che negli ultimi anni si è concentrata sull’uso di immagini trovate, sull’accostamento di materiali eterogenei, sull’archivio come forma disordinata e non gerarchica. Ogni lavoro nasce da un’osservazione sensibile del quotidiano e si costruisce attraverso montaggi che seguono più l’urgenza che la logica. "I still love U, anyway" si inserisce in questo percorso come punto di arresto, accumulo e rilancio.
